Your First Class

New to Yoga?

Coming to your first yoga class can feel a little daunting, especially if you’re not sure what to expect. My classes are relaxed, welcoming and designed to meet you where you are.

You don’t need to be flexible, experienced or know any of the poses beforehand. Just come as you are.

What to expect

Classes are friendly and inclusive, with a focus on moving mindfully, building strength and mobility and creating a little space to slow down. I’ll guide you through each part of the practice and offer different options where appropriate, so you can choose what feels right for your body. There’s no pressure to keep up with anyone else. Yoga isn’t about performing or getting every pose “right", it’s about finding a practice that works for you.

Before your class

Try to arrive 5–10 minutes early, especially if it’s your first visit. This gives you time to settle in, get comfortable and ask me any questions before we begin.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. You don’t need specialist yoga clothes.

Avoid eating a heavy meal immediately before class. A light snack beforehand is absolutely fine if you need one.

What to bring

Just some water, yoga mats and any other equipment will be provided.

You may also want to bring an extra layer for relaxation at the end of class.

During the class

You’re always welcome to rest, I will offer different modifications for each pose or you can skip something that doesn’t feel right.

If you have an injury or health condition

Please let me know before class if you have an injury, are pregnant, have recently had surgery or have a health condition that may affect your practice. You can let me know via email: hello@natalieharrisyoga.com

Where possible, I can suggest alternatives, but you should seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional if you’re unsure whether yoga is suitable for you.

Your only job is to show up

You’re always welcome to rest, I will offer different modiications for each pose or you can skip something that doesn’t feel right.

Children's yoga

Children’s yoga is all about making movement, mindfulness and wellbeing fun and accessible. Through yoga poses, breathing exercises, games and creative activities, children are encouraged to move their bodies, build confidence and discover simple ways to find calm.

My sessions create a welcoming space where there’s no pressure to get a pose “right”. Instead, children can explore, use their imagination and enjoy being themselves, while developing skills they can take beyond the yoga mat.
